University of Redlands welcomes applications from students around the world. Our students represent more than 45 countries of citizenship. Part of what makes Redlands great is the variety of experiences and backgrounds our students bring to our campus community. At University of Redlands, an international student is an individual of foreign nationality who will be entering, or has already entered, the United States with a student visa.
We are accepting applications for spring and fall 2025.

The Common Application for Transfer or free University of Redlands Transfer Application for Spring 2025 is now available.
*Students may transfer up to 66 units from a two-year institution or 96 units from a four-year institution.
Once you apply to Redlands, you will be sent an online Admissions portal login. This portal is where you will check your application status, check the status of admissions materials and learn what is still needed, view your assigned admissions counselor, and the place you will submit your enrollment deposit. You will be asked to submit your admissions materials by a specific deadline.
To check the status of your application, you'll need your login information, which was sent to you via the email you used on your application. If you do not have this information, please email admissions@a220149.com with your name and date of birth and we will resend.
Please note it may take up to 14 business days to process your supporting documents. ACT and SAT scores sent directly to us from the testing service may take longer to arrive. Please contact the Admissions Office before requesting scores to be resent.
Your college application is a reflection of you. We want to learn more about you and your experiences in and out of the classroom.

Test scores can be listed in the Common App through self-reporting. Redlands is a test-optional institution which means students, whose native language is English, have the option to not submit SAT or ACT scores if they do not believe their test scores truly reflect their potential for success in college. Regardless of their decision to submit, all students will be considered for admission and merit scholarships through a holistic review process.

Every year, a number of international students join our graduate music community.
Students whose first language is not English may meet English proficiency by submitting one of the following test scores:
To fulfill the international transcript requirement, please order one of the following international transcript evaluations approved through the University of Redlands for your coursework or degree earned outside the United States. Course-by-course evaluations are required and should define U.S. equivalency in degree completion, and degree cumulative grade point average (GPA).
Applicants should have a grade point average of at least 3.0 on a 4.0 scale from an accredited undergraduate program and must have a bachelor’s degree or equivalent in music.
Arrange to have two letters of recommendation from persons qualified to address your experience in relation to your possible success in your intended major field.
The U.S. government requires all international applicants to have the financial resources to pay for their school expenses.
Graduate applicants must audition on their major instrument or voice. Applicants to the Master of Music in Composition must only submit a portfolio of their work. Due to current COVID travel restrictions, all applicants must audition by video. You can schedule a virtual interview once you submit your audition.

Students interested in the Johnston Center must submit applications to the University of Redlands and the Johnston Center for Integrative Studies. Students may indicate their interest in the Academics section of the University of Redlands Common Application. A supplemental Johnston Application will be required once you submit your application to the University. A link will be available in your application status portal.

The Johnston Center strongly encourages visiting campus to experience the program’s connected living-learning community. Opportunities include overnight stays, classroom visits, and meetings with the Johnston Center Director Tim Seiber. The University of Redlands understands the unique needs of international applicants and our knowledgeable and caring team is ready to assist through every step of the process.
All international students studying in the United States require an F-1 or J-1 visa. Accordingly, international applicants should plan to apply no later than 13 weeks prior to the start of their intended academic start term. This typically allows enough time to submit transcript evaluation requests and other needed documentation and also have our Admissions Review Committee review the application and provide and official admission decision with adequate time for visa processing.
For international students whose primary language is not English, there is a required minimum TOEFL score of 213 for the computer-based test or 80 for the Internet-based test. An IELTS minimum score of 6.5 will also satisfy the language requirement.

Non-U.S. citizens must show proof of financial resources to cover the expenses of the program. Applications are reviewed by the department without a financial statement. However, if admitted, a financial statement is required.
